John 3:16
Gracious and loving God, with the Easter celebration each year light shines brighter, air feels fresher, and our hope stands stronger. It is the day, loving God, we are reminded of your glory and who you truly are.
Loving Father, from your son Jesus everything came into being. Without his touch there would be no earth, without his breath of life there would be no people, no human souls, and no love. But through your love for us, He made it all.
Yet, every day we turn away from him as if He was never there. Every day we fail to follow his commands. We fail to love others as ourselves and we fail to love you above all else. Yet, you love us still.
Because of your love for us you sent Jesus into the world to walk among us, and we didn’t know who He was. He taught us how to live, yet we choose to follow our own paths. He showed us unconditional love, yet our love is shallow and weak. Those many years ago, we denied him and even though we now know who He is, we often deny him still.
Yet today we come to you in celebration of the time Jesus walked with us in this world, when He endured humiliating abuse, unbearable pain, and a tortuous death because you love us. As your sacrificial Lamb, He gave his life on a cross. But He is risen! “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[1]
With the Easter celebration each year our light shines brighter, air feels fresher, and our hope stands stronger because, loving God, Christ washed our sins away and revealed your inestimable love to the world.

You are the light of the world,
