Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners

1 Timothy 1:15

Hosanna! Hosanna!

Crowds lined the roadside. They gathered because Jesus was coming. Excitedly they spread their coats on the path he would travel and waved palm branches to chants of, “Hosanna! Hosanna!” as the parade traveled the road down the Mount of Olives toward Jerusalem.

Like Rocky Balboa’s entry into the boxing ring, or football teams bursting onto the playing field from their respective ends of the stadium, Jesus rode through Jerusalem’s East Gate into the arena. He came into the world to play there.

Maybe those cheering him knew of the danger he faced, but they also knew how God saved Daniel from hungry lions, and Daniel’s three friends from a fiery furnace. They also knew Jesus had healed the sick and raised Lazarus from the grave. Naturally then, they expected Jesus to take care of himself when the chips were down. Only he didn’t enter the arena to win. That’s not the reason he came. “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Jesus explained. (Mark 2:17)

“Hosanna! Hosanna!” the people cried. Or better understood in our own language, “O Lord, save us.” Now that’s the reason He came, “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)

You are the light of the world,
